Overview and Responsibilities:Republic Finance is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our accounting team! We are building a leading consumer lending company. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supervising and leading the accounting department. We are looking for someone to build and maintain accounting principles, standard methodologies , and systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position will be responsible for motivating the team and driving team performance. Job responsibilities are as follows:

• 
  Manage and supervise accounting department employees, responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership
• Oversee the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to the general ledger, accounts payable, and reconciliation teams
• Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for operational improvements
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
• Remain current on proposed accounting regulations while recommending new procedures, when appropriate. Perform research on accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), when needed
• Maintain accounting controls by defining and developing accounting policies and procedures
• Work with external auditors during year-end financial audit activities to ensure accurate and timely closing and reporting
• Work with tax partner(s) by providing required documentation needed for filing of Federal and State taxes. Maintain internal tax documentation and schedules
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Coordinate financial reports for stockholders, taxes, regulatory agencies, and other financial groups relating to company, when appropriate
• Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives such as:
  
  • Recruiting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and correcting employees
  • Communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions
  • Enforcing policies and procedure
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested or identifiedRequirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred
    • 6-10+ years of accounting experience with a strong supervisory/manager role
    • Outstanding knowledge within all aspects of accounting and U.S. GAAP
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
    • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
    • Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle)
