Job Description --ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: At Polk State, our amazing faculty and staff create an inspiring workplace. The College is currently seeking applications from experienced individuals to serve as the full-time Program Director, Education, overseeing development and implementation of Early Childhood and Elementary Education associate and bachelor's degree programs. ABOUT THE POSITION:-- The Program Director will be responsible for the overall development and operation of the Education program. This will include developing the program curriculum, aligning the curriculum to all state teacher preparation program standards and guidelines, preparing the proposal for submission to the Florida Department of Education and assisting with the development of proposals for other accrediting bodies as appropriate. It is anticipated that this position will work closely with regional school districts and appropriate industry partners.-- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Oversight of Educator Preparation Institute, program compliance, EPI Program Director, EPI curriculum, and State reporting.
  • Develop program curriculum and all instructional materials
  • Prepare materials required by the Florida Department of Education for program certification
  • Coordinate the development of materials required for approval by other accrediting bodies
  • Disseminate program information to appropriate college recipients (administrators, advisors, faculty and program students) and appropriate recipients outside the College (accreditation or certifications agencies, state agencies, etc.)
  • Evaluate students for entry into the program and administer all aspects of the admission process
  • Develop the schedule of classes
  • Supervise program adjunct instructors
  • Coordinate practicums, internships and/or work-related educational experiences for program students
  • Monitor program adherence to state regulations and accreditation criteria This position is a level-- P16 .--To determine starting salary, Polk State College takes into consideration the pay level minimum, the candidate's--qualifications and internal equity factors. Required Skills
    • Knowledge of program design principles and practices
    • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional method theory and practical applications
    • Knowledge of standards for Florida teacher preparation programs
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of contacts of considerable importance within and outside the College.
    • Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards
    • Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel
    • Excellent written and oral communications skillsREQUIRED EDUCATION:Master's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university--with a major in Education or specialized education subfieldPREFERRED EDUCATION:Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree from a regionally-accredited college or university--with a major in Education or specialized education subfield Required Experience
      • K-12 teaching or administrative experience
      • Experience working with Teacher Education alternative certification program (i.e, Educator Preparation Institutes).-- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
        • A minimum of 3 years K-12 teaching or administration experience

                  • Foreign Transcripts : All international degrees must have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S.--"equivalency." Polk State College--requires that all international credential evaluations be conducted--by one of the companies affiliated with the--National--Association of Credential Evaluation Services,--Inc.--(NACES--).                     • --Submission of--official transcripts--for all stated degrees, is required as a condition of employment following receipt of job offer.
