Job Description:
The Plant Equipment Operator  is a starter position filled
with crucial responsibility: ensuring the safe and efficient
operation of electric generating and associated subsystem
equipment. This position involves monitoring, inspecting, and
recording the status of equipment to maintain optimal plant
performance. Additionally, the operator contributes to the
execution of activities that support sub-function initiatives aimed
at achieving efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation objectives.
Process & Technical Accountabilities Emissions Control &
Environmental Systems : Monitor, troubleshoot, and report on all
emissions control and environmental systems to maintain acceptable
levels of plant effluents. Equipment Malfunctions : Proactively and
reactively monitor, troubleshoot, and report any equipment
malfunctions. Equipment Clearances & Permits : Responsible for
granting equipment clearances and hot work permits for maintenance
purposes. Daily Operating Logs : Review daily operating logs to
identify and address any abnormal occurrences. Cleaning Duties :
Expected to wash, scrub, and clean all assigned equipment and areas
within the plant. Safety Compliance : Ensure adherence to all
company safety procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
Coordination with Contractors : Coordinate activities with
contractors and outside service personnel to complete unit outages,
equipment installations, modifications, and repairs. Material
Availability : Monitor the availability of necessary materials and
supplies, such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and log sheets, to
maintain unit operations. Required Skills Technical Knowledge :
Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of boilers, turbine
generators, and associated equipment in an industrial plant
environment. Electrical Functions : Some knowledge of electrical
functions and a technical background for identifying problems with
equipment and controls. Gauge Readings : Ability to take readings
from gauges and understand the basic system of operation. Must be
capable of using various tools, including valve wrenches, shovels,
hammers, mauls, and channel locks. Spatial Awareness : Ability to
judge distance and spatial relationships, which is crucial for
safety in the plant environment. Physical Requirements :
Occasionally required to lift items and equipment weighing up to 30
pounds. Writing Skills : Adequate writing skills to produce reports
on daily activities, accidents, and incidents. Qualifications /
Education Educational Background : High school diploma or
equivalent. Trainability Test : Successful candidates must pass the
operator trainability test to qualify for an interview. Shift Work
: Must be willing to work a 12-hour shift. (Dupont Schedule)
Additional Qualifications : A Process Technology Degree or
