Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Training and Development Manager, who aspires to be part of a team, delivering powerful results. In this role you will both develop and support the training needs for all craft and Supervisor training and development within the US. We look for innovative ideas and an agile approach to deliver the best possible outcomes for the businesses. It is preferred that the successful candidate be located in Louisiana ( No relocation assistance will be provided ). In this role it is expected that some travel will be required.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.


  • Develop and embed training, competence and development procedures, processes, and tools for the Operations America businesses, by working with the business leaders to ensure best practices are being shared and utilized across the entire program.
  • Develop and maintain a registry of training courses and tools that can be used to support the development needs of employees.
  • Create and lead training courses as required, while acting as a lead for the training and development team.
  • Ensure that all training, competence and development business objectives are met while developing and upskilling the local teams to ensure sustainability of the work force.
  • Proactively contribute to and support the business units, as an integral member of each, in the achievement of objectives linked to business strategy, growth and development. Provide an operational hands on business focused service to the businesses with a drive to make results happen in a timely fashion.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the businesses in all aspects of training, competence and development and work with them to develop proactive solutions when challenges arise.

    Skills / Qualifications


    • College Degree required
    • Minimum 5 years of experience
    • Must be able to pass a drug screening, background check and safety council courses
    • Must have a valid driver's license
    • Proficient in computer usage
    • Ability to travel to client sites nationwide
    • Detail oriented
    • Knowledge of Word, Excel and other common MS Word tools
    • Thorough understanding of all HSSE requirements for US craft labor force
    • Field experience in the O&G, industrial and refining sectors
    • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, codes and standards
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good verbal (presenting) and written communication skills
    • Be professional, ethical and a team player with a positive attitude
    • Demonstrate teamwork, respect, integrity, innovation and a customer focused approach.
    • Results focused and can appreciate how their strategies impact the bigger picture.
    • Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplines at all levels of the business with a practical, hands on approach
    • Flexible to undertake varying work with changing priorities
    • Commercial awareness and Business acumen
    • Exudes energy, passion, optimism and commitment to doing great work
