About Us:GEO Prep Academy of Baton Rouge is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our teaching methods are rooted in the effective implementation of the Tier 1 curriculum. Our instructional approach includes a blended learning model in elementary through high school, and an Early College High School model. We are a TAP school! MATHEMATICS DIRECTOR (K - 12): The Director of Mathematics will lead and oversee all aspects of the K - 12 mathematics educational programs and activities within the network. This role involves providing leadership, support, and guidance to teachers, administrators, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality mathematics education and the achievement of academic excellence.TERM: 12-month (year-round) position. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:The Director of Mathematics (K - 12) will perform the following duties:

  • Collaborate with teacher leaders, teachers, and administrators to develop, review, and revise curriculum standards, frameworks, and instructional materials for grades K-12.
  • Ensure alignment of curriculum with state standards, district goals, and educational best practices.
  • Monitor the implementation of the curriculum and instructional strategies to promote student engagement, critical thinking, and academic achievement.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate professional development workshops, seminars, and training sessions for mathematics educators.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to teachers to enhance their instructional practices, classroom management skills, and assessment strategies.
  • Stay abreast of current trends, research, and innovations in mathematics education to inform professional development initiatives.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and evaluations to assess teaching effectiveness, student learning outcomes, and instructional needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support to teachers to improve their instructional methods, classroom environment, and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with school administrators to develop performance goals, action plans, and strategies for teacher improvement and professional growth.
  • Analyze student achievement data, assessment results, and other relevant metrics to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement within the educational program.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making processes to develop interventions, instructional supports, and academic initiatives that address the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor progress towards academic goals, benchmarks, and performance targets, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate curriculum audits, program evaluations, and accreditation reviews to maintain high standards of educational excellence and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in mathematics education.
  • Collaborate with parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders to build positive relationships, foster open communication, and support student success.
  • Attend meetings, committees, and forums to address concerns, solicit feedback, and promote collaboration on matters related to mathematics education.
  • Represent the district in professional organizations, conferences, and community events to advocate for the interests and needs of mathematics students and educators.
  • Accepts other duties as may be assigned which are related to the scope of the job and outlined in their key performance indicators.Physical Demands: While the position is an office-based role involving tasks such as developing, implementing, and providing training, the Mathematics Director also frequently visits schools and attends meetings both locally and outside the region. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree in education, Educational Leadership, curriculum and instruction or related field.
    • Valid Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner certificate/license in mathematics education (substitute not accepted.
    • LDOE certification in Educational Leadership 1 or eligibility for certification.
    • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in mathematics education, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educational technology tools.
    • Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and implement evidence-based practices.
    • Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing elementary and secondary education programs.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative initiatives to improve outcomes for all students.
