Job Title: Product Documentation ManagerDepartment: Technology SolutionsReports To: CTOFLSA Status: Full-Time Salaried, Exempt Summary:Alliance Safety Council is currently seeking an experienced Product Documentation Manager responsible for defining the documentation strategy and executing the production of all deliverables related to the management of software product documentation and communications.The Product Documentation Manager will be responsible for the creation and management of all software product documentation, including product tours, user manuals, release notes, training guides, reference guides, programming interface documents, online help, context-sensitive help, videos, and system specifications. The successful candidate will have a strong technical mindset with the ability to create both technical documents and system specifications and well as engaging customer-facing guides and videos. The individual will be working in a fast-paced and highly technical environment that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a customer-centric mindset. A Product Documentation Manager must:Serve as product portfolio knowledge and communications lead focused on ensuring the clarity, consistency, and accuracy of product knowledgeImplement and manage ASC style guides to create clear, concise, and consistent documentation across multiple product linesDevelop and manage content for the customer support portal, including online documentation, video demonstrations and moreInterpret, execute and recommend changes to policies and procedures that relate to product knowledge and communications for employees, members, customers, and stakeholdersStay abreast of competitor and industry best practices in regards to product knowledge management and deliveryCollaborate with fellow writers and internal business stakeholders such as product managers, software development engineers, QA, and client services teams to develop strategy and long-term content governance.Monitor issues and requests coming through member services and leverage these insights when prioritizing efforts and implementing improvementsSupport agile delivery of high-quality documentation in sync with product releases.Contribute to improving on-line help and contextual help, including chat-bot scripts to increase the user experience and facilitate self-learning and self-service.Produce short explanatory videos for key product features Maintain a record of all corrections and revisions to documentationComply with and improve upon document control management processesManage multiple projects with revolving deadlinesMeet all related release and documentation deadlinesAdapt to new learning techniques and propose enhancements to user documentation to improve the effectiveness of end-user content delivered. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications: Outstanding writing skills, excellent command of the English language, the ability to conceptualize needs, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Motivated self-starter who goes above and beyond the expected requirements of the role, with strong research skills. Proven experience utilizing a strong analytical skill set and proactive problem-solving abilitiesStrong organizational and planning skillsAbility to comprehend, assimilate and document numerous software applications, hardware functionality, and software/hardware integration independentlyAbility to utilize multiple desktop publishing and video/still-image editing programs Other skills and abilities desired for success in this role include:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceFive years of full-time work experience directly related to developing technical and/or software product documentationExperience working with knowledge bases in programs like Zendesk, TeamSupport or ServiceNowStrong technical literacyAdvanced understanding of technical writing conventionsAbility to comprehend and clearly communicate technical dataKnowledge of Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)Experience working in an agile content development environmentWork well under pressure and be able to prioritize to meet deadlines and quickly shift priorities as necessaryAbility to multi-task, work independently and demonstrate keen attention to detailsPositive, team player attitude and demonstrated optimism are necessary. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of Product Documentation Manager, the employee must be able to withstand performing typical office work, including periods of sitting at a computer station and performing computer-related work, which generally involves repetitive motion tasks on a computer keyboard and viewing multiple monitors for prolonged periods of time. The employee must also be able to regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Schedule: This position is considered salaried exempt, normal working hours for Alliance Safety Council are Monday - Friday.
