This job, under supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides direct care to patients within the framework of the LPN Act. Assists other members of the healthcare team in providing the highest quality of personalized patient care. Assists and collects bodily fluid specimens during endoscopic exams and procedures. Makes sure appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies are done. Education Required - Graduate of accredited LPN program. Must pass NCLEX-PN exam. Work Experience Required - 2 years experience and demonstrated proficiency with advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures with working knowledge of radiation safety and image storage guidelines or certification in related area or Certification obtained through: SGNA, IAHCSMM or CBSPD required. Completion of IV therapy credentials required. Certifications Required - Current LPN License in the state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association Preferred - Certification obtained through: SGNA, IAHCSMM or CBSPD Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboardEffective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care processGood interpersonal skills Job DutiesEffectively uses the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care through data gathering, planning and evaluation.Assists with procedures, biopsies and specimen collection.Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes and other pertinent equipment while maintaining quality control measures.Assists in the evaluation of progress toward expected outcomes on an ongoing basis and provides input in the revision of the plan of care.Provides care based on specific holistic age appropriate needs of patients served.Communicates effectively and professionally with internal/external people.Delegates and assigns appropriate task to unlicensed team members appropriately and within the scope of practice.Safely administers medication and prescribed therapies utilizing appropriate reference materials.Effectively adapts to change in a positive manner throughout the day as needs of the unit/department change.Prioritizes and implements nursing interventions to promote optimal outcomes.Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.Other related duties as required. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role. #LI-SF1
