management Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the
following: You are being submitted to a position in a designated
area for hurricanes. The hurricane season runs from June 1 to
November 30, but storms may occur outside of that window. Upon
accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager
may assign you to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation
to stay at the facility until after the storm passes or be part of
the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be
communicated for each storm as impacts can vary. By signing your
contract for this position, you accept the above and will report as
assigned by your immediate unit manager if a storm occurs. If you
are uncomfortable with the above conditions, please reconsider
applying during the hurricane window. Unit Information: Patient
diagnoses include chest pain, coronary artery disease, peripheral
vascular disease, arrhythmias, diabetes mellitus, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, pneumonia,
hypertension, myocardial infarction, renal failure, pulmonary
embolism, congestive heart failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, and
syncope. There is always potential for med-surg overflow cases such
as gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis, cerebrovascular accidents,
and COVID-19 positive cases. Special procedures and unit details
include pre/post catheterization lab care, post-operative
management of pacemakers, automatic implantable
cardioverter-defibrillators, ablations, post-operative coronary
artery bypass grafting, thoracotomy, vascular surgeries, and more.
Required skills include telemetry monitoring, chest tube
management, peripheral and central line management, intravenous
starts, and wound vac care. This position may require flexibility,
including coverage for unexpected staffing needs or additional
holiday shifts. Orientation is 8 hours. Resources who have worked
as permanent staff or in-house contractors must have a full year of
separation before returning in a travel capacity.
