Occupational Therapist (OT) at our Pediatric Clinic and Therapy
Learning Center will evaluate, plan, and implement individualized
therapy programs for children with developmental, physical, and
cognitive challenges. The OT will work collaboratively with
families and a multidisciplinary team to enhance each child's
ability to perform daily activities and achieve their highest level
of independence. Areas of Responsibility Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess motor skills, sensory
processing, and daily living abilities in children. Develop
individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and
goals. Utilize standardized assessment tools and clinical
observations to determine therapy needs. Therapeutic Intervention
Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques to improve fine
motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
Monitor and document progress towards therapy goals, adjusting
interventions as necessary. Engage children in play-based and
meaningful activities to facilitate skill development and
functional independence. Family and Caregiver Education Provide
training and resources to families and caregivers to support
therapy goals at home. Communicate regularly with families about
their child’s progress and strategies for continued improvement.
Develop and distribute educational materials that explain therapy
techniques and reinforce learning. Collaboration and Teamwork Work
collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including
physical therapists, speech therapists, and pediatricians, to
provide holistic care. Participate in multidisciplinary team
meetings to discuss treatment plans and progress. Share expertise
and provide guidance to colleagues on occupational therapy and
developmental milestones. Core Competencies Clinical Expertise:
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy
techniques and best practices. Communication Skills: Exhibits
strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with
children, families, and team members. Patience and Compassion:
Shows empathy and patience when working with children and their
families. Problem-Solving Abilities: Effectively identifies issues
and develops creative solutions to overcome barriers in therapy.
Adaptability: Adjusts therapy approaches to meet the varying needs
and responses of each child. Collaboration: Works well within a
multidisciplinary team, contributing to a cohesive approach to
patient care. Organizational Skills: Maintains accurate records and
manages time efficiently to balance multiple responsibilities.
Education, Licensing, and Certification Requirements Master’s
degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
Valid Indiana State License in Occupational Therapy. Certification
from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
(NBCOT). Current CPR certification.
