Please ensure you are aware of the following: Upon accepting this
assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you
to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to remain at
the facility until the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each
emergency event, as impacts may vary. You should not apply for this
role if you are not comfortable with the above expectations. The
average daily census for the unit is 14 patients. The nursing staff
to patient ratio is 1:6. Patient population includes adults and
geriatrics. Floating will occur, with agency staff pulled first, to
similar or lower acuity floors. Every other weekend coverage is
required. The unit requires ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certified
nurses to administer chemotherapy. The nurse to patient ratio is
1:4 max during chemotherapy administration. The unit provides
interdisciplinary support services, including physical therapy,
respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Expected
patient diagnoses include breast cancer, lung cancer, sickle cell
anemia, and diabetes, among others. Special procedures include
chemotherapy/biotherapy administration for certified nurses only.
Other procedures performed are general surgeries such as
appendectomy and cholecystectomy. Availability is needed, including
weekends and flexibility to respond to patient care demands. All
candidates must comply with health and safety measures. References
may be required for clearance to start the contract. 5 Benefits of
