MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1 - Class D, Chauffeurs License will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1 is $12.83/hourly with an additional $1.00 per hour worked. Additional 10% optional pay when attaining permanent status.

MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2 - Class A, Commercial Driver's License will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-2 is $13.72/hourly with an additional $1.00 per hour worked. Additional 10% optional pay when attaining permanent status.

MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1/HEAVY - Class A Commercial Driver's License will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1/Heavy is $15/71/hourly.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies maybe filled from this recruitment as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, 2 or 1/Heavy depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for a Mobile Equipment Operator is $4883.00 per month. Examples of Work

Function Statement:

The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. This position is located in District 61, Unit 710 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to Highway Foreman 2. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals and directives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

* Asphalt Distributor (truck mounted)
* Backhoes
* Front end loaders
* Bucket/ladder trucks
* Cranes/draglines (lifting capacity > 20,000 lbs but
