Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Director to ensure the efficient operation of our healthcare facility. The Medical Director's responsibilities include coordinating medical teams, achieving the facility's mission goals, and executing the facility's policies, systems, and agendas. The Medical Director will work to improve the overall care quality of our facility and work to enhance relationships with vendors who work with our facility.

To be a successful Medical Director, you should be dedicated to promoting the trust and professionalism of our facility within the community. You should have good managerial and organizational skills, as well as excellent medical knowledge and training.

Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients served by BPRCC. Demonstrate the ability to apply these principles in assessing and interpreting client information. Demonstrate competency in planning and implementing individualized care plans based on the age-related needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients.

Provide effective clinical leadership to the organization, clinical staff, and medical students, fellows and residents placed at BRPCC for training, in the provision of primary medical care to adult and geriatric clients. Actively participate in multi-disciplinary case review conferences and conduct periodic chart review sessions with the medical team.

Provide appropriate and effective medical care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral as required for adult and geriatric clients.

Effectively provide on-site and telephone consultation with nurse practitioners within the framework of the N.P./M.D. written agreement and serve as a professional resource for other BRPCC providers. This includes active participation in staff education initiatives, programs and BRRPCC committees, as appropriate.

Effectively hire, supervise and evaluate performance of the physician and nurse practitioner staff and volunteers. Conduct performance evaluations of the physician and nurse practitioner staff on a regularly scheduled basis (at least annually).

Ensure the provision of effective supervision of Certified Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses either through direct provision or oversight of a delegated medical provider.

Provide oversight of scheduling of MD, NP, Clinic, and CMA staff to ensure safe, effective care that meets established productivity standards.

Provide effective clinical leadership to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee in the development, implementation and evaluation of program activities. Provide daily oversight to the QI/QA program, including ensuring the implementation of QI/QA operating procedures and completion of QI/QA assessments, monitoring QI/QA outcomes, and updating QI/QA operating procedures.

Provide effective clinical leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of medically related clinic policies and treatment guidelines with regard to clients and clinic personnel (i.e.; management of patients with infectious diseases).

Effectively supervise pharmacy and laboratory activities and assure that the services provided best meet the needs of the clients and providers and comply with standards of local, state and federal agencies.

Actively participate in the development and implementation of the Annual Workplan for the Medical Team.

Actively participate in local, state, regional and national forums, as feasible and appropriate, to promote optimal primary health services for the medically underserved.

Actively participate in advocacy activities that support the mission of BRPCC.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.

Possesses a registered physician’s license in Louisiana.

Completed residency and board eligibility in a primary care specialty. Current board certification preferred.

Experience in quality assurance and risk management programs preferred.

Experience in community or public health setting with populations similar to clients of BRPCC preferred.

Desire to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary organization.

Comfortable working with homeless and/or low-income clients.
