Job Description:

The purpose of the Senior Income Tax Accountant is to participate and supervise tax projects, review and prepare tax returns, prepare supporting FAS 109 workpapers, and supervise junior tax accountants in the department. Our corporate office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is now hiring a new Senior Income Tax Accountant.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for participation in and supervising tax project and other related activities under the general direction of more experienced tax professionals
  • Reviews and/or prepares tax returns, researches and identifies technical issues, and clearly and logically documents all tax work for review by others
  • Prepares supporting schedules and workpapers for the timely preparation of 10Q and 10K tax items
  • Thoroughly and accurately analyzes information
  • Prepares practical and creative solutions to company tax situations
  • Supervises the work of less experienced personnel
    • Delegates work
    • Monitors their progress
    • Provides timely, continual, and on-the-job feedback
  • Shares tax planning ideas with others
  • Participates and contributes to the attainment of group goals
  • Remain abreast of current tax developments
  • Effectively apply tax knowledge to internal client situations

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts
  • Ability to discuss moderately complex tax issues with the project team and client management

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The primary work environment is an office.
  • The specific physical demands/requirements of the job include: lifting less than 25% of the time, reading, color distinction, acuity, sitting greater than 50% of the time, and talking.
  • The typical percentage of time spent traveling and spending nights away from home is less than 10%
