Job Description:

Proactively involved in ensuring that proper practices are observed on the workplace. Will often perform safety inspections at service center locations, offices, and company vehicles. Observe working conditions, equipment, and employee behaviors to identify safety problems. Ensures all safety equipment is properly maintained. Tasks includes periodic facility fire inspections, verifying that first aid kits are properly stocked and ensuring that company vehicles and equipment are serviced following a proper schedule. When accidents, injuries or illnesses occur in the workplace, safety supervisors report and lead investigations. Ensures compliance with all safety-related regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards, Department of Transportation regulations and Environmental Protection Agency requirements.Pay: $56,000 - $70,000Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability t o conduct new employee orientations using approved curriculum materials in accordance with the Safety department requirements . This training may be in person or in a virtual classroom setting.
  • Ensure that all safety training and other required training is provided for all Drivers, including retraining as needed.
    • Assist with accident/injury investigation and illness exposure monitoring.
    • Assist with investigations into employee safety inquires, suggestions, and complaints.
    • Follow up as needed with staff involved with accidents/incidents to ensure that all investigative material is collected for the claim file up to and including incident reports, declination of medical treatment forms, photos of damage sustained to all properties, etc.
    • Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
    • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery/equipment, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
      • Investigates incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries including accident investigation, accident reports, OSHA reports, and PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration) 5800 reports.
      • Work within company policy as outlined in Employee Handbook, Human Resources Policy Manual, Safety Manual and DOT, OSHA Safety rules and regulations.
      • Occasional travel (over-the-road and air) is required
      • employee will also perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as requiredEducation/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
        • High School Diploma or GED, College Level education highly desirable
        • 2 to 3 years transportation, safety, or related experience
        • 1 to 3 years of training experience preferredSkills Required:
          • Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues
          • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
          • Ability to manage time effectively and work in a diverse environment
          • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
          • Good verbal, written and relational communication skills, with ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials and public.
          • Must be a self-starter and motivated
          • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
          • Ability to adapt to changing situations and willingness to help in a variety of situations.Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
            • 50% of time will be spent in an office environment , and 50% travel required .
