We are currently seeking Safety Forester/Specialist to join our team. Duties include auditing of line clearance contractor crews to ensure safe working conditions and OSHA and ANSI safety audits related to utility line clearance. • Ongoing training and assistance with obtaining industry certifications.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Conduct safety audits on distribution transmission vegetation management electric utility crews on a daily/weekly basis. Specifically looking for compliance with:
  • Checking crew pre-job briefing for accuracy and detail for the site.
  • Working in a safe overall manner
  • Use of appropriate PPE
  • Adherence to OSHA and ANSI regulations
  • Adherence to MAD (Minimum Approach Distance) based on the voltage on line being worked
  • Proper work area protection
  • Proper fell zone delineated
  • All climbing equipment is in good condition
  • Fall protection being properly used by bucket operator
  • Proper hydration by the crew
  • Proper labels on chemical products and knowledge of their use
  • Proper safety equipment on all vehicles - complete and up to date.
  • Use of outrigger pads and wheel chocks
  • Trailers and chippers properly attached to the tow vehicle
  • All equipment in good operating condition and operator knowledgeable of safe operation and
  • All other safety-related items as related to working near energized conductorsWHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
    • Safety audit experience preferred.
    • Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
    • Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong problem solving and multi-tasking abilities, and show attention to detail.
    • Must have basic computer skills.WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
      • Bachelor s or Associates degree in Forestry, Environmental Science or related field preferred.
      • 2-3 years prior Utility Vegetation Management experience preferred.
      • Knowledge of line clearance safety standards (ANSI A300; ANSI Z133.1) and federal safety requirements (OSHA CFR 1910.269).
      • Support storm restoration efforts as needed.
      • Previous Line Clearance experience a plus.
      • Certification as an ISA Arborist a plus.
      • Being Bi-Lingual (Spanish).A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ECI FORESTER:Working EnvironmentWork alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions.
