Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Completes all Preventive Maintenance and
Safety checks as scheduled by the automated maintenance management
system. Completes all reports, work orders, repairs and other
departmental duties. This technician is a specialist in any of the
following areas: Radiology, Laboratory, Dialysis, or
Anesthesia.

JOB FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintains all job related equipment.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
* Successfully and effectively uses test equipment and service
manuals to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
* Interacts with equipment manufacturers and other repair
organizations on repair work and new installation.
* Orders parts and maintains a stock of repair parts sufficient to
make most repairs with a minimum of downtime.
* Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) according to the
manufacturer's recommended practices, with modifications where
necessary, to meet the hospital's specific needs.
* Provides reports, statistics and records as needed by respective
department directors.
* Investigates and resolves issues if/when an unsafe condition
occur with medical equipment and uses discretion to suspend the use
of medical equipment due to hazardous situations.
* Follows safe work practices related to electrical function,
infection control, and practical application of patient care
equipment.
* Performs electrical safety testing on equipment and corrects any
problems found.
* Maintains records of equipment PMs, repairs, operator errors,
installations and other related activities.
2. Repairs and calibrates more complex and specialized patient care
equipment.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
* This technician is a specialist in various areas that may include
but not limited to: Radiology, Laboratory, Dialysis, or Anesthesia
and other life supporting equipment.
3. Performs all other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5 years minimum experience maintaining specialized equipment.
Average experience is 14 or more years. Works independently and
without supervision.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree in electronic engineering technology or equivalent
combination of knowledge and experience.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Required to provide training certificate(s) of specialized
equipment directly from the manufacturer training center. AAMI
Certification preferred
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA
regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited
to: Patient demographics, patient related complaints, and
information related to patient location.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety
practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to:
Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE,
exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, and
monitoring clinical alarms.
