PRESIDENT & CEO BATON ROUGE, LA The Position The President & CEO provides strategic leadership and overall direction for Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge (VOAGBR), a Christian based, nonprofit organization. The President/CEO maintains our commitment and dedication to the ministry of service and provides spiritual leadership within the organization. The President & CEO supports the organizational mission statement as a servant leader and works in partnership with the Board and staff to help individuals and families gain self-reliance, dignity and hope. The President & CEO is responsible to move the VOAGBR forward with innovative services and programs throughout the 19 parishes VOAGBR serves. The President & CEO is to be the principal leader, voice and advocate in attaining the organizations' vision of supporting communities where all people live in safety, with social, emotional and physical well-being, spiritual fulfillment, justice and hope. The Essential Roles & Responsibilities The essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: COMMUNITY IMPACT. Responsible for the overall impact of VOAGBR on the community, with particular emphasis on increasing its capacity to accomplish the organization's mission. Provides leadership to position the organization at the forefront of the community and motivates the organization to make the changes necessary to achieve results. Learns and maintains awareness and knowledge about the political, business, and community needs of the region. Establishes and builds relationships with top leaders in the community, including those representing the highest levels in business, government and non-profit sectors. STRATEGIC PLANNING AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT. Recommends strategic initiatives to achieve the organization's mission, vision, and goals. Makes evidence-based decisions and ensures appropriate research has been conducted. Reviews goals and reports to determine status/progress in attaining objectives. Creates an effective process for long-range strategic planning and focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to drive the organization to the desired results. Determines whether the current strategy is appropriate and identifies shifts in major changes and tactics required. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. Develops annual budget for Board approval which encompasses current and future programs/initiatives. Reviews financial reports and data to insure appropriate financial stewardship, including checks and balances. Proactively manages the financial security and strength of the organization. TALENT MANAGEMENT. Attracts, develops and retains an effective leadership team. Ensures diversity of staff; and promotes a positive performance-based culture; a culture fosters inclusion, engagement and professionalism in the workplace. Evaluates staff performance, productivity, and compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives including succession planning, training, and human resources. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT. Ensure that the programs make a difference in the lives of those served by VOAGBR. Lead staff in consistent and meaningful program innovation. Evaluate and ensure that programs are competitive, aligned to mission, vision, and community priorities. RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT. Responsible for driving key results in fundraising. Identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors to become new financial contributors. Leveraging personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities. Promotes a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the Board and staff level. COMPLIANCE. Reviews and recommends operational policy changes to the Board and ensures organizational compliance with all Federal, State, Parish, and City licensing and regulatory requirements. Assesses operational policies ensuring effectiveness and compliance with regulators. Monitors execution of operational policies and procedures. BOARD OF DIRECTORS. Oversees, administers, manages, and directs the affairs and business of the organization, subject to the policies and directions of the Board of Directors. Keeps the Board informed of the organization's progress, activities, and challenges, as well as financial status and sustainability. Provides Board with recommendations to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborates with Board to establish goals and priorities. Works with Board in securing desired outcomes associated with the organization's strategic planning process; in accordance with VOA National charter standards. Supports and guides the Board's governance, composition, and committee structure. Actively participates in all aspects of the Board development process. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT. The President & CEO will cultivate positive and productive relationships with a wide variety of local, regional, state, and national stakeholders including: * VOAGBR Board of Directors * VOAGBR staff and volunteers * VOA National organization * State, regional, and local leadership * Governmental officials * Business leaders * Managed healthcare organizations * Leaders of related organizations and associations * National, state, and local media The Qualifications * Servant leader with a track record of notable leadership accomplishments * Exceptional business leadership acumen; able to effectively lead and manage the entire scope of the VOAGBR organization (includes functional departments, operations, programs, services, and staff) * 7?10 years' experience in executive position; in complex, corporate setting a plus * Proven ability to lead, direct and support senior level professionals * Record of success growing and developing social service organizations and programs * Promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
