Save Education - Bachelor's Degree - Master's Degree Skills - Accounting - Legal Research - Computer Skills - Auditing Supplemental Information - This position will be filled by a permanent classified employee currently employed at the LA State Licensing Board for Contractors* This position is independently responsible for conducting preliminary and thorough investigations in the Baton Rouge region pertaining to alleged violations of the LA Contractors' Licensing laws, rules and regulations for the Board and inspecting and monitoring construction sites for compliance of the laws. The preferred candidate will have extensive law enforcement, investigative and/or compliance experience. THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE MAY BE REQUIRED TO SERVE A PROBATIONAL PERIOD OF UP TO 24 MONTHS. Requirements: - Pre-Employment Drug Testing - Background check may be required - Travel IS required - All prospective new hires will be subject to employment eligibility verification via the federal government's E-verify system. Information is also provided on our job seeker website at ****************************************** For further information about this vacancy contact: Janna Lege LA State Licensing Board for Contractors ************************* Phone Number Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree plus two years of professional experience in accounting or financial auditing; program auditing; building inspection; administrative services; internal affairs investigation; investigatory work; law enforcement; legal research; real estate investigation; real estate appraisal; or in the issuance or recommendation of the issuance of medical related licenses. SUBSTITUTIONS: Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree. Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows: A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree. 30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. 120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree. College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree. A master's degree in any field will substitute for one year of the required experience. NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Job Concepts Function of Work: Conducts investigations on violations regarding Board/Agency policies, state and federal statutes, Civil Service rules, licensure and/or ethics. Level of Work: Advanced. Supervision Received: Direct from a Compliance Investigator 4-B or higher-level administrator. Supervision Exercised: None. Location of Work: May be used by all state agencies with an Investigative Division. Job Distinctions: Differs from law enforcement investigators by emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations. Differs from Compliance Investigator 2 by performing advanced-level compliance investigations. Differs from Compliance Investigator 4-A by the absence of more complex advanced-level compliance investigations initiated by a governing body in a specific area of law administered by the governing body. Differs from Compliance Investigator 4-B by absence of supervisory duties. Examples of Work Conducts investigations into alleged or suspected misconduct by agency employees or licensed members of applicable boards or commissions. Reviews and gathers evidence by taking oral, written, or tape-recorded statements from witnesses. May conduct surveillance or administer polygraph examinations. Investigates reported violations of state and federal ethical and agency laws, rules, and policies. Prepares detailed confidential reports and summaries of investigations. Maintains records of investigations and related data. Gives presentations and training on applicable laws and licensure regulations to the public. Makes recommendations to the Board on updating laws and requirements for each license. Observes, investigates, and identifies problems in departmental operations and proposes corrective action to boards/agencies. Conducts background checks to determine suitability for employment or licensure. Testifies in Civil Service hearings, Ethics Commission hearings, board hearings, and criminal and civil court concerning results of investigations.
