Job Description:

The general responsibilities for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician are to Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install various types of instrumentation and electrical equipment throughout the plant. The IE technician functions in a team environment but must also be able to work independently as needed. The IE technician supports all aspects of electrical, instrumentation and analyzers for the Martinez plant. Additional responsibilities for the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician will include:Repair and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation equipment ranging from small motors up to services involving 4160 volts.Installation of new equipment up to 4160 volts. Installation of wiring & conduit. Installation of process control instrumentation such as transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc. Remove and install small piping and tubing. Rebuild and calibrate transmitter and control valves. Tune controllers. Maintain and troubleshoot emission monitoring instrumentation and control equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation and electrical equipment. Interface with Distributed Control System (DCS), programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controls (PLC), control software and human-machine interface systems. Interface with outside contractors on new installation and startup of electrical and process control systems. Read and interpret electrical and instrument loop diagrams. Facilitate and order parts as necessary. Maintain plant electrical and instrument records and standards. Provide support to operations in process control. Conduct instrument inspections and tests as required per the sites Mechanical Integrity (MIMM) program. Operate forklift, man lift & hand tools including drills, hacksaws, wrenches and grinders.Know your responsibilities and follow the policies and procedures as detailed in the Martinez Health Safety Security Environmental ProgramImplement HSE activities for which you are responsible, follow-up and correct discrepanciesParticipate in incident investigations and corrective measuresMinimum Qualifications:Associates degree or equivalent from one-year college or technical school. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.Demonstrated experience with reading blue prints and layouts including reading electrical and instrument loop diagrams.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with bending and threading conduit.Demonstrated ability to remove and install small piping and tubing Solid experience with troubleshooting, testing and repairing electrical circuits up to 480 volts AC.Must be able to troubleshoot and repair both pneumatic and electronic instrumentation loops.Preferred proficiency with Distributed Control System (DCS), programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controls (PLC), control software and human-machine interface systems.Solid knowledge of basic math skills; moderate computer skills with MS Word, MS Excel, time entry, etc...Prior experience with CMMS, preferably SAP, is a plus.Must have the ability to climb a ladder, drive a forklift, use the man lift, and wear a respirator.
