Job Description:
Attends daily meeting to receive and discuss priority and
routine work orders. Orders include utilizing diagnostic apparatus
to perform operational and environmental testing on electrical,
mechanical and instrumentation equipment for repairs, replacement,
or calibration Selects, installs, and operates measurement devices
such as O2 Analyzer infrared photometers, carbon monoxide
analyzers, pH analyzer, valves, transmitters for level, pressure,
temperature, and flow.Communicates with unit operations to ensure
work site has been prepared and to avoid interfering with
activities of other workers. Follows lockout, tag-out procedures,
checks for documentation of entry permit and checks to make sure
lines are closed and locked.Inspect worksite to determine
presence/root cause of obstruction or change in operational
capabilities. May involve dismantling of equipment using hand and
power tools to locate the failed equipment (motors, pumps, or
valves). Transports it to the shop using hoist, lift truck,
dollies, and rollers as needed.Analyzes data collected within the
field.Communicates findings to supervisor and production supervisor
as needed secondary to the nature of the problem, and the urgency
of the repair to determine when planned maintenance will least
interfere with unit operations. Generally communicates problem is
fixed or repair is completed.Assist in performing periodic
preventive maintenance testing procedures on filters, various
analyzers, leak testing, etc.This includes ladder, safety harness,
respirator, high voltage gloves, and goggles monthly
inspections.Performs research to identify availability of new
technology to improve equipment efficiency and
reliability.Communicates with vendors to view product, literature,
and studies.Participates as a team member on research and
development projects to upgrade operations and to assist in
installing/monitoring new equipment.Follows diagnosis of electrical
layout, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before
completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.Measures, cuts,
bends, threads, assemble and installs electrical conduit using
tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender.Pulls
wiring through conduit. Splices wires by twisting or soldering
wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.Connects wiring
to equipment such as lighting, motors, and instrumentation using
hand tools.Installs control and distribution apparatus such as
switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels. Fastens these items in
place with screws or bolts using hand tools and power
tools.Isolate/Repair Hi Voltage systems wearing appropriate Arc
Flash PPE.Connects power cables to equipment such as electric motor
and install grounding leads.Test continuity of the circuit to
ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using
testing instruments such as ohmmeter, and/or megger. Observes
functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and
need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.Order replacement
parts using SAP computer program for cost and storeroom
availability. Contact outside vendors for parts not in stock.
Assist company with regulatory compliance of devices and systems
pertaining to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of
Environmental Quality (DEQ), Louisiana Department of Environmental
Quality (LDEQ) Radiation Licensing, National Electric Council
(NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ISO
9001 programs.Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
according to specific plant location or per job task
specification.May be required to perform other duties as specified
by supervisor and parameters are indicative to average requirements
that are not inclusive based on change in operational, safety or
environmental factors.Completes computer-base training to comply
with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements and
policies.Reviews all safety concerns generated in the
database.Submits any safety concerns/incidents electronically for
review, investigation, and resolution of risk.Attends safety
meeting once a week. Brief safety meeting daily to discuss on the
job safety/work orders.Completes work permit for lockout/tag out
and confine space entry as required. Performs calibration of
diagnostic instruments.Documentation of repairs on equipment using
computer program, SAP.Ladder safety inspection performed
monthly.Performs audit tasks as assigned by supervisor.Equipment
inspection and calibration for gas-tested meter completed prior to
utilization.Performs housekeeping within the department on a daily
basisMinimum requirementsHigh school diploma or a GED and 5 years
in instrumentation and electrical experienceOROne-year certificate
from college or technical school and three plus years of
experience.ANDTransportation Worker Identification Credentials
(TWIC)
